Your Health is in Your Own Hands

So just yesterday I was feeling life crap! My head felt heavy and my nose was congested and my body just ached… not to mention I was freezing!

And today my head is lighter and I’m warm… and my nose is a bit runny… but I’m like 75% better than what I was yesterday!

So what made my health change sooo fast??

Well I think there were quite a few factors…

For one I got my favourite sick food (you know the food you associate with being sick? For many its chicken soup… But I’m vegetarian!) I also ate a banana- which my mother keeps nagging of how healthy it is… and I don’t like bananas… I also had ginger tea… and soup green with bit of garlic…

Guess you could say I ate a whole lot of stuff that is really healthy… However none of that made me feel any much better as the day came to an end. I was miserable. I kept thinking of how I hate being sick. (I did eventually change my thought pattern to how grateful I am for my health, thank God!)

But that isn’t the point of this post.

I am of the belief that there is a reason for everything. And especially when you get sick- it’s your entire body telling you to pay attention to something. I didn’t have a clue as to why I was feeling sick, I couldn’t find the reason nor did I feel very much up to searching for one…

This most amazing man, Benjamin J Harvey, taught me a process to heal myself. I sat and did that process and some of the pieces that have been floating in my head for such a long time finally popped into place!

100% present meditationI have been having difficulty sitting for meditation. Id love to simply meditate every morning because I know how beneficial it is for me and I know the peace and balance that it brings. I want to be on the ball, sharp, awake and really present every single moment of the day… and I know meditation is the way to get there. Yet I have been questioning myself continuously (for weeks) about why it is that I just can’t get out of bed to meditate! And then I kept berating myself for not just sitting for  the damn meditation.

I spoke to my wise and crazy sister and she was talking about living in the present moment. Something I realised I do very infrequently! I live in the future and the past! Future more so…

When I did this healing process I realised that by living in the past of so many mornings that I didn’t get up and by living in the future hopes of rising each morning to meditate I was putting my head through hell and not getting what I wanted in the present moment!

I wrote this today about being 100% present and I have finally gotten to the place where I can say that now I will live more in the present and the weird thing is that meditation is the very key to living in the moment!

So I’d like to think I healed the real issue behind why I was sick and that is why from yesterday to today I have such a huge difference in my well-being!

    Hi,

I have three golden rules which I try to live by, helps with balancing things:

    1. Eat Less – makes sense, try not to be too greedy and over-indulge, it results in our body, at some point, reacting, which more then likely has a negative affect.

    2. Sleep Less – there is some scientific notion that too much sleeping can increase your chances of a stroke, not sure. I have a habit of getting up the same time during the weekends as my working days, which is usually 5:30ish. If I get up any later i.e. 8am then I feel as if I have lost valuable hours already. Getting up early refreshes your body and you’re ready to go. Of course, this also means getting into the habit of sleeping early.

    3. Talk Less – doesn’t mean we all stop talking to each other, but rather we don’t gossip or waste time on judging others too much, this is bad for your health because it often leads to the “dark side of the force” i.e you can become jealous and start doubting your own ability to achieve things in life.

So, this may work for some, works for me and keeps me (and my wife) balanced while we juggle work, kids and expectations 🙂

    Have Fun

      Heya!!
Interesting rules! 1. Eat Less… Think I do this one unconsciously… Totally with you on this one! Moderation is good !
      2. Sleep less… Lol.. as you know from my post, I have difficulty with this one.. but then I do sleep late.. and sometimes it feels like my body clock is always upside down, I have more energy in the evening than I do in the morning… I will master it one day! Congrats on getting this one down! To me its a huge achievement!!
      3. Talk less! I love this one! Im just not too sure if i really do talk less… lol…

Wow! Thanks for sharing how you find balance! I think that it may work for me, but I really need and want the meditation to be like a ritual in my life! 🙂
      Hugs!
